iTaste Innokin Kroma Review Bottom Line

This small and stylish box mod has everything a newbie wants from a vaping device, but, the features are a little basic for the more advanced vapers our there!

Innokin Kroma from iTaste in WhiteIf you’re in the market for one of the best box mod kits, there are few better options than any of Innokin’s innovative product offerings. In a market that’s flush with quality producers and catchy products, you can always count on Innokin to come up with new ideas and designs that will literally blow your mind when you get them in your hand. With that in mind, you would expect that we’d love the Innokin Kroma brand from iTaste when the kit arrived in the mail. Did we? Do you think we’re chomping at the bit to tell you all about our experience in this Innokin Kroma Review? Right you are!

What Arrived on Our Doorstep?

Let’s get this out of the way. Our kit came with a little box mod that offered an internal battery. Upon further inspection, we discovered that it had a 2-ml tank – a little smaller than we’d have preferred, but probably perfect for the device, given its size. Of course, we can expect a lot of newer devices to come with smaller tanks in the future since the European Union decided that its TPD compliance measures would require such things. Regulations should never determine design, but that’s where we are apparently.

Even when you assemble the whole thing, you still end up with something that can be impossible to detect in an average-sized man’s hand. With the trend toward size extremes, we can’t help but be impressed by the diminutive nature of this little unit. It’s ideal for stealth vaping, portable enough to take with you anywhere, and attractive to boot. Not bad, Innokin.

iTaste Innokin Kroma in redOur device – the Vape System – came with a great Aethon chipset for temperature control and a 2000mAh battery providing 75W of power. Temp control ranges from 150 to 315 degrees Celsius – a nice range for any device. It also came with an adapter so that you can use other atomizers that fit the device’s 501 threading. The compact design is super-attractive, and the mod has a textured side that makes it easier to hold onto. The tank is hidden to some extent within the mod body, which helps to keep its overall size down to manageable levels.

The Features

Apart from the wattage and temp control, the main feature is the Aethon chipset. Since I’m more familiar with the YiHi at this point, I was interested in seeing how the Aethon performed for temperature regulation. In our tests, we found that it was pretty much spot on for accuracy, and we can understand why the company boasts so much about its technology in this area. I’d love to see a head-to-head comparison between the Aethon and the YiHi to getter a better idea about how they compare. Suffice it to say, however, that the Aethon did its job well when we ran it through its paces.

The Battery

The Innokin Kroma's TankThe battery’s wattage seems accurate enough in terms of rating. Of course, that battery isn’t likely to give you all-day battery life, but that may not matter to most users. That’s because the device offers the new pass-through charging capabilities, as well as 2.0 amp charges. That helps the entire unit to recharge super-fast. The pass-through vape option doubles up on that feature by ensuring that you can still use your device even while you’re busy charging it.

The Vape

Side view of the Innokin KromaI’ve said it before in previous reviews of some of the best electronic cigarettes, but I’m going to say it again here. There are a lot of us out here who would like to see even more devices make use of pass-through vaping capability. We’re a mobile group, and there are times when we can’t get to our charged devices. There’s a real benefit to being able to plug in your current vaping unit and just allow it to soak up power while you continue to vape as needed. This should be as standard as USB charging, in my opinion. The Tank of the Innokin Kroma

The Kit

The kit strikes us as another solid offering from Innokin. To be frank, it’s not the type of design that’s likely to knock anyone’s socks off, but it has much to commend it – especially for beginning vapers and even those with a few years’ experiences under their belts. It’s definitely worth a look if you’re in the market for something new or just need a new backup device.

Our Conclusion

For us, though, it left a little to be desired. The tank is less than what we would prefer to see, even in a device this small. And the features are pretty basic for our tastes. Moreover, the power and flexibility – while certainly good enough for any newer vaper – are not really suitable for anyone with any real familiarity with the vaping devices. In short, this is great for the market it’s targeting: the newbies and intermediates. For advanced users, however, there are far too many other options on the market to settle for the Innokin Kroma.
