Update 31st January 2017: Kanger have now released the new Subox Mini-C, take a look at our review!
By now, fans of vaping box mods have almost certainly heard about Kanger’s latest offering for that market: the Dripbox. The device is only the latest product to be released by Kanger, which is a company that has a well-earned reputation as one of the leading e-cig manufacturers in the world. Most vapers who are familiar with the company’s product line will be expecting a product that offers cutting-edge technological features combined with superior performance. In this Kanger Dripbox review, we’ll take a look at this new box mod and try to determine whether those fans’ expectations will be met.

Meet the Dripbox

Kanger Drip Box - in 3 colorsThe first thing that strikes you when you lay eyes on the Dripbox is the design, mainly because it is so clearly designed with that unique Kanger look. It’s smooth. It’s sleek. And it’s made with that attention to detail that you’ve come to expect from one of the world’s most recognizable e-cig brand names. The starter kit comes with the drip mod and a sub-drop rebuildable drop atomizer (RDA), as well as everything you need to get started with your vaping right off the bat. You also have three different colors to choose from: red, white, and black.

Key Features

The Dripbox can provide up to 60 watts of power, thanks to its replaceable 18650 battery. And since it offers a rebuildable atomizer, you can use it to fire single-wick coils and double-wick coils. That provides an amazing level of customization for users, which should enable you to design the build that best meets your needs. In addition, the setup allows a minimum 0.2 Ohm resistance level to provide the sub-ohm capability. Even better, you can get a pre-built sub-ohm coil to use with the device, which should be good news to vapers who don’t particularly care for the idea of creating the builds themselves.

Kanger Dripbox fed from the bottom. The device is a bottom fed unit, which simply means that you insert your e-juice into the RDA tank from the device’s bottom. The really important point to note here is that the e-cig can contain as much as 7 ml of your favorite e-juice, making it one of the larger-capacity units on the market today.

Of course, price matters too. On that front, the Dripbox should be greeted with enthusiasm. At less than $50, this is a starter kit that fits nicely within most user budgets. That price point is eminently affordable for this type of starter kit, especially when you consider the liquid capacity, quality battery, and simplicity of use that the device offers.

Performance Notes

At the end of the day, however, everything ultimately comes down to performance. Does this Kanger offering provide the volume of vapor and flavor that the best-vaping devices expect when they fire up a product like this? That question becomes even more important when you consider that drip mods remain somewhat of a mystery to many vapers, given their short history in the marketplace.

So, how does the unit actually perform in the key areas of flavor and vapor production?

Surprisingly well.

Coil from Kanger DripBoxIt is first important to understand that some users may need to familiarize themselves with the bottom feed system used in this product. It may take a few moments of practice to get the ideal amount of liquid onto the coils to maximize the flavor produced by the Dripbox. Once they master that, however, they are in for a real treat. At the lower wattage levels, this product produces a steady volume of flavorful vapor. Things really get interesting when you turn up the wattage, though.

At that higher wattage level, you’ll find that the amount of vapor you produce is roughly on par with many of the more expensive mod products on the market today. Unlike most cheap, high-volume vapor units, however, this Kanger gem does a great job of maintaining the flavor even when the vapor volume is high. That means that you can enjoy those big clouds of vapor without sacrificing that taste you so enjoy.

Our Recommendation

If there is one real takeaway from this product, it is that someone finally made a drip mod that meets the high volume vapor expectations of enthusiasts without costing a small fortune. Thanks to its unique design and high-tech features, the Kanger Dripbox manages to be a product that is both affordable and easy to use. Its compatibility with a wide variety of coil options, huge e-liquid tank, and impressive ability to provide consistently large flavorful clouds of vapor makes this a product well worth the asking price.
