Modefined Lyra Box Mod Kit Bottom Line

Available in both Mod or kit form the new Modefined Lyra mod is made by the sister company of Lost Vape and one of the best vape mods on the market to date. With a new chipset designed to be more responsive in wattage mode and improve accuracy whilst in temperature control mode this mod ticks a lot of boxes for many vapers. Overall a great performing mod.

In-depth Lost Vape Modefined Lyra Review

Modefined has released a new box mod, although who are Modefined you may well ask? Well, Modefined is actually a sister company of the well known Lost Vape brand, but have they pooled in enough resource and experience to create an awesome box mod? Well, let’s take a close look at the Modefined Lyra to find out if it competes with the best mods on the market.

Design of the Modefined Lyra box mod

Design

It’s good to see Modefined keeping to the traditional box mod look with the Lyra, that said it does look a little different with the design on the front having a chrome frame around the screen, buttons and USB connector. But this design will make any previous vaper come familiar with the device in no time at all.

Modefined have released 5 colors of the Lyra which include Ultem, Red, Silver, Black or Amber, all of which have the black front panel! The Ultem version is slightly transparent so you can just about see the batteries inside the mod, some will love this, some will go for the other colors which are not so transparent. On the front of the Lyra features a pretty good sized 1.3 Inch IPS screen, below the screen, are 3 mode buttons (up, down and select) and above the screen is the fire button.

Size of the Modefined Lyra in handThe base of the unit has a switch which opens the battery compartment for your dual 18650 batteries, which as always these days, are sold separately. With the batteries in the mod, it weighs approximately 225 grams, which is quite a light mod in comparison to others on the market; this is mainly due to the lack of metal within the body.

Also, it’s nice to see the 510 mount on top but importantly in the middle of the mod, so any tank fits nicely on the Lyra! It does have a spring mount connector also to aid the use of other tanks.

Features

The 1.3” IPS screen when first powered on shows all the information the vaper needs to see like current wattage, the resistance of the coil, voltage, puff duration and puff counter, with your two battery indicators, tucked away at the bottom on either side so you can easily differentiate between the 2. Around the edge is also a wattage counter that looks like a rev counter, it basically adjusts depending on how much wattage you use and the state of your batteries, so if you set it to 100W the counter will go halfway, if you set it to 200W it will go all the way!

You can use the up and down arrows to select the adjustment you want, moving the arrow between power, wattage, and settings.

In the power area, you can choose between bypass, TCR (Temperature Control), Stainless Steel, Titanium-Nickel or normal wattage mode.

Selecting the wattage setting, you can obviously adjust the wattage all the way up to 200W.

Finally selecting the settings mode gets you into the main menu settings area where you can adjust other features like puff duration, auto screen lock etc.

Performance

Modefined have included a new iteration of the serious chipset in the Lyra mod, but how does this affect the performance? Let’s test it out!

In temperature control mode at 415 Degrees Fahrenheit, 30W with a nickel coil, and vaping until the cotton is dry, there is no evidence of burning, although you can taste a little bit of the dryness, the flavor is good and the responsiveness is also pretty much instant. Overall the vape cotton was sucked completely dry before the temperature control kicked in, perfect!

In wattage mode with 200W and a standard RDA with 0.12ohm stable fused Clapton coils and airflow fully open. This produces a really hot vape that isn’t really enjoyable, please note, we just doing this to test the maximum wattage, so don’t vape at those levels! But the Modefined Lyra is certainly producing what it says it is with the maximum 200W output!

At a more sensible level at 50W with a 0.2-ohm coil, this tank produces a really nice responsive vape. To our calculations, the wattage is pretty much bang on. No complaints with the performance from us! Be sure to check out the vape deals area as this mod often features in many sales across the web!

To Conclude

For a more classical looking mod, the Modefined Lyra has obviously taken advice from their sister company Lost Vape to overhaul their chip with a newly designed and better responsiveness design. Modefined’s previous mods had a slight drift with accuracy, but they have most certainly sorted that out now with this mod.

On the wattage side, the Modefined Lyra definitely packs a punch, if you like your vape hot then this definitely produces that at the higher wattages. For normal vapers, there are no problems whatsoever on the technical side, very responsive and accurate.

Overall a really well designed and great mod, certainly belonging in our list of best e-cig in the box mod class, we were really pleased with it.
