Coupled with the Big Baby Beast tank this kit is one of the best box mods on the market. You need to check this baby out! |
Smok’s been making a lot of great moves when it comes to innovation and new product offerings, and the company doesn’t seem to be showing any sign of slowing down any time in the future whilst they compete for the best box mod. With touchscreen devices being all the rage these days, it only makes sense to include them in vaping devices as well – and SMOK’s latest offering doesn’t disappoint. The SMOK G-Priv 220 is a powerful mod that offers temperature control, five-speed control for heating, and a nifty touchscreen to tickle your need for the latest technological advancements. That’s a lot of features for one mod, but there’s even more – as we’ll see in this SMOK G-Priv 220 review.
So, what do you get for your money? Well, the one thing you don’t get is the battery. The device needs a dual high-amp 18650 battery, so be sure that you have one of those on hand to power your device. The mod itself is a fairly standard-sized device, measuring in at 85mm by 28mm by 58.5mm. The device features wattage that is rated at 220W, and atomizer resistance as low as 0.06-ohms. With the temperature control settings, you can achieve temperatures that range from 200 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit.
Unbelievably SMOK has already released an upgrade to this mod, only after a few months of release! You can read about the Smok G Priv 2 here, one thing to say though, it is an improvement!
It’s a flexible unit too, providing support for heating element types that include stainless steel, nickel, and titanium. If your not sure about the difference you can read our guide on stainless steel and nickel coils. The G-Priv is a sturdy product, made from a zinc alloy – so you can rely on it to last for years to come. It has a screen lock button on the touchscreen. That screen measures 2.4 inches, and comes with shatter-resistant capabilities to ensure that it survives those common minor bumps and drops.
We think that you’ll really like the design, as it’s boxy – but not too much so. It has those rounded tapered corners and edges that are so popular these days, which makes it a great fit for your hand. Face it; those sharp edges are never that comfortable to deal with, so the rounded contours are a welcome trend. As noted, the construction uses a zinc alloy for the chassis, which provides it with tremendous strength and durability.
The battery door design should please you as well. It has magnets to keep the door in place when it’s shut, but they’re easy enough to open so that you can get the battery when you need to change it. That is after you’ve opened it the first time. I’ll admit to having minor difficulties with that when we first tested the device.
The mod also offers a 510 connector, making it easy to use with a wide variety of atomizers. That’s important for anyone who wants to ensure that he can use as many of his other vaping components as possible. If you’re one of those vapers who just have to get everything just right, then this mod shouldn’t slow you down in that effort.
The Smok G-Priv comes in a kit which includes the following:
The touch screen is where the real value is at, however. At 2.4 inches, it’s an over-sized feature that offers sleek, easy-to-read functionality that comes complete with a useful screen lock feature. The screen is actually extremely intuitive to use, and gives you quick and easy access to temperature control mode, voltage watt mode, and information about settings and maximum puffs. Within those different modes, you can adjust settings like your wattage level, and your heating speed. You can also control your wattage, choosing levels between one and 220, as well as the temperature settings.
Obviously, SMOK went all out to include as many innovative features as possible in this device to try to make the best e-cig that money can buy, and they’ve put together a pretty impressive unit. To be frank, we were surprised to see that it could do as much as it does, and found little to dislike. Probably the only thing that we didn’t like about it was the firing bar, as it had a little more give than we’d prefer. Still, the overall design is just about spot-on.
We used the Big Baby tank with this as it came in the kit, to get sub-ohm perfection, and we weren’t disappointed. We were able to coax huge clouds of vapor out of the G-Priv, and the tank helped to ensure that we maintained maximum flavor as well. The large, powerful battery provided us with plenty of staying power for lengthy vaping sessions, so we were able to thoroughly enjoy out time with this device.
We think you’ll enjoy it too. The SMOK G-Priv 220 offers a lot of power and all the fine-tuning opportunities you could ask for when you want to customize your vaping experience. Even without the gorgeous touchscreen, we’d probably recommend this device based only on its actual performance. Thanks to its inclusion, however, we highly recommend that you try the G-Priv and make it a central part of your vaping collection. You won’t be sorry.
