Back in 2006 when the first e-cigarette, was first introduced to the market, there has been a lot of speculation over whether they pose a health threat or are in fact healthy. Roll forward 12 years to today, and a lot has not changed.

We often see in newspapers about new risks associated with vaping, or dangers that vapers face when vaping. But reading between the lines and actually finding the truth is somewhat of a tough task.

Nevertheless, we look at the actual reports, journals and studies released and report the actual facts, along with recommendations they found without trying to manipulate the results for personal gain (like selling newspapers, selling other quit smoking aids, or even persuading users to go back to cigarettes)!

1Is Vaping Healthy?

Why not start with the big one and the question most people want to know!

Quick answer - No!

The art of vaping is not healthy, the vapor contains Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin, Nicotine, and artificial flavoring. Inhaling these foreign substances into your lungs is not healthy and should really be avoided. If you are a vaper, you should really think about when to quit vaping.

However, of all the studies conducted on e-cigarettes, none appear to show carcinogens or toxins found at any levels harmful to humans. Some reports were discredited where there were traces of metals.

Tobacco cigarettes contain over 6,000 toxins and 66 known carcinogens. E-cigarettes contain 13 ingredients all of which have been in the US food supply for decades and all are “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) by the FDA

This may appear as a contradiction in terms, but the facts are simple: Any foreign objects or chemicals, including in vapor form, going into your lungs is essentially a bad thing. No study has found carcinogens that may affect users, but as vaping is a relatively new practice, this may well change.

2What Are The Ingredients of E-cigarettes

Although there are only 4 reported ingredients of e-cigarettes, i.e. VG, PG, nicotine, and flavorings, there are actually many more. This is mainly due to the compounds in the above.

Each flavor will consist of a different break down, so below we give you an example of one tobacco flavor e-liquids ngredients, as found by the FDA:

Yes, vaping is a lot better than smoking, Public Health England reported that vaping was, in fact, 95% safer than smoking.

4Does Vaping Help Smokers Quit

Without doubt vaping is the most successful product on the market to help smokers quit

Reducing nicotine levels to almost zero, without the user being exposed to harmful carcinogens or tar.

5What is Nicotine and is it harmful?

Nicotine is a naturally occurring liquid alkaloid, which is an organic compound made of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen. Unfortunately, these compounds can have a definitive effect on the human body.

6Is Nicotine as harmful as Caffeine ?

We heard this a lot in the vaping community. As caffeine is another liquid alkaloid, it is very easy to compare the two and yes they are comparable.

There is a slight difference though. Both caffeine and nicotine are classified as secondary stimulants because they affect the sympathetic nervous system. Both caffeine and nicotine produce an increased energy level, without a feeling of intoxication. Nicotine acts as a stimulant mostly in new users, whereas long-term users claim that it relaxes them.

7So Why Quit?

Although there are many positives when it comes to comparing vaping with smoking, e-cigarettes are still a nicotine delivery system.

Nicotine is not as harmful as many believe, due to its close relationship with smoking, but it is still an addictive chemical that is harmful.

E-cigarette do a great job in reducing the nicotine levels ex-smokers are addicted too, and it is our job to help vapers quit vaping altogether.
