Eleaf iStick Melo Starter Kit Review Bottom Line

Eleaf has always been a name you can trust in the vaping community and now they have released a much waited for an upgrade to their box mod collection. The new Eleaf iStick Melo Starter Kit with Melo 4 tank has a built-in 4400mAh battery which is just huge and a capacity to run from 1W to 60W. Granted this mod kit is not for everyone, but for those who want a simple to use and small yet long-lasting kit with a nice vapor flow, then this kit is right up your street.

In-depth Review of the Eleaf iStick Melo 60W Starter Kit

Eleaf use to be one of the manufacturers to go to for all of the best e-cigarettes and now they have finally updated one of their classic vape pens with an improved chipset and a huge built-in 4400mAh battery. Introducing the new Eleaf iStick Melo, a 60W box mod starter kit that brings hope to the old Eleaf lovers! Let’s take a close look at this vape mod to see how good it really is.

Design

Eleaf has stuck to their classic look that we are familiar with and let’s face it, was really popular 3 years ago when they introduced their first mod.  It’s a relatively small mod, measuring 132.5mm tall with the tank, 42mm wide and 22mm thick. Considering the 4400mAh battery inside, that’s pretty small!

Eleaf is introducing 5 initial colors to the market including Black, Silver, Green, Rose Gold and Red. They may introduce more, depending on how popular the initial release is.

It has a large fire button on the side with a 0.49” screen on top of the tank, showing battery life, wattage, resistance, and voltage.  On the opposite side of the firing button is the USB connector allowing you to recharge the battery and perform firmware updates.  There is a little chrome on the mod, the fire button, the up and down buttons next to the screen and the top and bottom. The rest is an aluminum cover in the color of your choice.

Features

To turn the mod on and off it uses the 5 click process.

The iStick Melo Mod has a number of features. You can flip the display by turning the mod off, then pressing and holding the up and down button, which is pretty neat! Pressing both the buttons when it’s on locks the device.

To enter the menu area click the fire button three times. Here you can switch between wattage, bypass, temperature for nickel coils, temperature for titanium coils, temperature for stainless steel coils, and then some Temperature control memory modes.

When in wattage mode, you can adjust simply by using the up and down buttons and choose anything from 1W all the way to 60W.

USB Charger on the iStick MeloSome other cool features including pressing the fire button and minus button to enter stealth mode, so the screen will turn off but your still able to use the mod. In temperature control mode you can adjust the wattage by clicking the fire button 4 times, then using the up and down button to adjust.

The Eleaf iStick Melo kit also features an ENU protection system, which is a new temperature protection process during the charging of the internal batteries.

The Melo 4 Tank

Melo 4 Tank

With the Eleaf iStick Melo starter kit you also get the Melo 4 sub ohm tank. It’s a 22mm diameter tank with a nice top fill function, simply slide the top cap to reveal the hole to fill the tank. It has a standard 510 drip tip, two huge air flow holes at the base, and comes with 2 coils, one EC2 0.5 ohm Coil best used around 30 to 100W and the EC2 0.3 ohm Coil for 30 to 80W use.

Performance

The iStick Melo starter kit is full of functionality to satisfy most vapers, let’s see how it performs. With the EC2 coil in wattage mode at around 50W seems to be the sweet spot, at least for this coil.

There’s plenty of vapor and the vape mod is performing as we expect from Eleaf, which is really good to see.

The tank does create a smooth draw thanks to the huge air flow holes, but to be honest the flavor is a little dampened in comparison to one of the best sub ohm tanks. That said as a kit, we pretty happy. You can always switch out the tanks if the Melo 4 just isn’t for you, just remember if it’s greater than 22mm you will get a little overhang.

To Conclude

Overall the Eleaf iStick Melo starter kit including the Melo 4 tank is a good solid mod kit. It’s one of those mods that are easy to use, small and easy to carry around with you when you’re traveling. It’s probably more aimed at new vapers, but not those who are looking at e-cigs to quit smoking, more at those who have tried cigalikes and looking to move to box mods.

Don’t forget to check out our vape deals area as this mod and many like it often appear in the sales!
