For those vapers out there that love RDA's then Kangers Dripbox 160 is one of the best mods you can buy. You can decide on regular dripping from the top or the convenience of the bottom fed squonker. With a big 160W output running off 2x18650 batteries, this mod covers most vapers requirements. We personally prefer RDA's for the rich taste and full clouds they produce so we really enjoyed vaping the Dripbox 160 and think you will love it too.
In-depth Kanger Dripbox 160 Review
Many vapers basically got their first exposure to mods using bottom-feeding devices such as RTA’s, although this is slightly different to real RDA’s you can read about the difference of RDA’s and RTA’s here. Then came along Squonkers, a true bottom fed RDA device that enabled vapers to feed their coils by squeezing a bottle built into the mod. This enabled them to carry their juice on the mod, feeding it directly into the atomizer. It was perfect for drip-lovers since it meant that they could enjoy dripping without the hassles of carrying their e-juice bottles with them wherever they went.
Kanger’s new Dripbox device is an homage to those bottom feeder squonkers, updated to allow true drippers to manually drip or rely on that bottom-feeding capability. In this Kanger Dripbox review, we’ll examine the device and see if it’s all its made out to be and whether it can be classed as one of the best vape mods on the market.
Starter Kit
First, the Kanger Dripbox 160 can be obtained in a starter kit. That’s an important benefit for anyone who just wants to get everything in one convenient package and be ready to start vaping right out of the box. The kit comes with not only the mod but the Subdrip RDA that allows users to feed the liquid from the top – a favorite technique for most drippers these days. It also comes with a 7ml bottle that can be squeezed at the bottom for those who want that bottom-feeding experience.
Ohh The Power
The Dripbox 160 relies on two 18650 batteries for power, we always recommend getting the best 18650 batteries you can afford, as you will have to provide those for yourself. The device permits onboard charging, so you don’t have to remove the batteries every time they need to be recharged – which is another convenience point that shouldn’t be ignored. The device’s micro-USB port enables charging current to pass through to the batteries even while they’re inside the Dripbox housing.
Dripbox offers a nice range of wattage, varying from 7-160 watts of power. That will provide most users with all the power they need to accommodate their vaping preferences while allowing the flexibility that should appeal to most cloud-chasers. There is also a nice range of temperatures available, as the device can fire at temperatures between 200° F – 600° F. That TC mode enables the use of Nichrome, Stainless Steel, Titanium, and Nickel 200 coils as long as they have a resistance of at least .02ohm. The device comes with Kanther coils for the Nichrome setting.
LCD Display
This is an improved version of the company’s prior Dripbox release, and that means that you can expect a lot of updated features. That earlier device was fairly simple. It had no display for the controls and offered limited control over its use. This newest version does have a great LCD display and three buttons that you can use to control different settings. Like many vape units, powering the device up or down is as simple as clicking the firing button five times in a row.
The buttons and display screen are used to set temperature control, choosing from the different coil types. You can also use them to choose the variable wattage option, and adjust settings for both wattage and temperature. You can even switch your display readings from Celsius to Fahrenheit, or vice versa, to accommodate your preferences.
Airflow and Features
The device has air flow controls that you can adjust as well. There are even a couple of ports that are devoted to mouth-to-lung vaping. Engaging those ports restricts the airflow so that you can enjoy that warm, more limited draw that MTL vapers tend to prefer.
These features all combine to create a device that has an amazing degree of flexibility. That should make the Dripbox 160 an appealing option for a wide array of vaping enthusiasts, and elevates this product far above its predecessor. Is it a mod to start out on, well no not really, and if you looking at vaping to quit smoking then this mod really isn’t for you, it’s more of an advanced mod, one you would use to truly utilize your vaping experience. The larger question, though, is this: how well does it perform? Features are nice, but they don’t always foreshadow performance. In our estimation, however, these features do contribute to an experience that we believe makes this product Kanger’s best offering to date.
OVERALL
For starters, we got a lot more vapor out of this device than the old model. That added power and temperature control really helped to boost cloud production. On the taste side of the equation, we are able to confirm that the Dripbox 160 provides clear, undiluted flavor that we usually only see with devices that come in at a much higher price point. Perhaps most important of all, though, the product is easy to use and compares well with the other best electronic cigarettes in its class, which you can find here.
With all that said, there’s nothing to dislike about this device. It offers the power you need, the control you want, and the performance you expect from a quality brand like Kanger. As a result, we are confident that this product would make a fine addition to your own vaping collection, and highly recommend it.
