Vaporesso has just launched the new 2000mAh battery, Target model box mod named the Target Mini 2. The kit comes with the VM Tank 22 and obviously the Target Mini II mod. So how does this kit compare with the best box mods on the market? Let’s take a closer look to see.
Having the word ‘mini’ within the description you would expect this mod kit to be small, and your right! With a total length of just 107mm, including the tank, a width of 25.7mm and a depth of 37.2mm, Vaporesso has done a good job in keeping this mod small and easy to carry around with you.
Being so new, there are only a few colors currently available, these include the traditional black but also come in red and teal if you’re looking for something slightly different or for your mod to stand out a little.
The mod itself has a nice, oversized fire button on the front making it easy to find and use. Below the fire button is the 0.66”, rather large OLED screen which is nicely laid out giving the vaper all the vape information they need. This includes a battery indicator, the vape mode, current wattage, resistance of the coil, voltage at a fire, along with a puff counter and timer.
Below the screen you will find 2 function buttons and off to the side of the mod is where the Micro-USB port is to recharge the device.
Is designed to be a little chunky, but Vaporesso has managed to keep the dimensions relatively small to suit the mod. Measuring in with a diameter of 22.5mm and a height of 32.2mm.
It has a 2ml tank capacity, which is a little on the small side, but in keeping with the overall design, we can understand why. It’s nice that Vaporesso has included a standard 510 drip tip on this tank, meaning you can interchange this if you wish.
On the base of the tank, you will find the airflow ring, where you can adjust to your requirement. The airflow is controlled by either selecting small holes or turning further to see one large open slot. This gives greater control on exactly how much airflow flows through the coil.
The VM Tank 22 is a top fill tank and removed with just a slight twist of the top cap. This reveals the large fill hole. You will notice that there is also a locking screw in the center. Using the enclosed tool you can unscrew this to get to the glass tank if you wish to clean the tank or replace the glass.
One thing that is different with this tank is the coil has no screw thread and does not screw into place! Simply unscrew the base of the tank and the coil will fall out of the main housing. Obviously, there are rubber and silicone washers built within the tank and coil to avoid any leakage. Just be warned when unscrewing this base the coil can just fall out!
Within the Vaporesso Target Mini 2 Kit, they provide 2 different coils. The first being a 1.0-ohm coil which is rated between 10-13 Watts. This coil is using a ceramic wicking system with a conventional round wire coil design. The other coil is a 0.6-ohm coil which is rated between 16-22W. This coil is using the more popular mesh coil design with cotton as the wick.
Remember to always prime the coils by dripping a few drops of e-liquid inside the coil before using. This avoids burning the wicks and ruining the coil.
The main Vaporesso Target Mini 2 mod is made from Zinc Alloy and weighs approx 112 grams. It does feature an integral battery rated at 2000mAh which is pretty good considering the size and equal to a good single 18650 battery.
The mod has a working wattage of between 5-50W, can be used with coils from 0.03-5-ohms of resistance and can use any tank with a diameter of up to 23mm without overhang.
It utilizes the 5 clicks on and off feature that we are all use too with other mods. 3 clicks lock and unlock the device but you can still use it to vape when it’s locked. To access the main menu you click the large function button below the screen 3 times. The first selection with the menu area is the vape mode, where you can choose from hard, normal, or soft. You can also select your own power curves if you’re more advanced.
Other menu options include SP mode, which is a kind of ramp-up mode, which you can achieve with variable wattage anyway! You also have variable voltage mode where you can select from 0.5-8.5V. You also have the option of using this mode in temperature control mode, where you choose the coil type from stainless steel, nickel, and titanium. Within temperature control mode, you can still change the wattage if you wish.
Other modes within the mod include bypass, where you can give the full voltage from the battery. You can also adjust the clock, reset the puff counters, adjust the brightness, turn the device to smart mode to let the device choose the ramp up for the coil.
So all in all a good set of options for the Vaporesso Target Mini 2 mod.
Starting out we are using the 0.6-ohm coil with the airflow fully open. We found that at around 22W is best suited, bringing the most flavor from the coil and an overall pretty good vape for such low power. One thing we did notice is that this particular coil works a lot better with the thinner e-liquids, so try to find a decent 50/50 VG/PG juice. The 70/30 VG/PG work pretty good as well, but the thicker you get the more the flavor seems to drop.
Using the 1.0-ohm coil is best used for mouth to lung pulls, and with the great airflow control, it’s pretty easy to customize your vape to your own preferences. This coil seems to produce a better flavor thanks mainly to the ceramic coil.
The Vaporesso Target Mini 2 Kit is certainly an improvement to the previous model. The airflow is well designed and with the ceramic coil brings great flavor for mouth to lung vaping. The mesh coil performs well but doesn’t compete with the best e-cigs in the market that are higher powered and designed specifically for direct lung vapers.
Overall, super happy with the performance of the Vaporesso Target Mini 2 Kit, ideal for mouth to lung vapers, and also nice for direct lung inhale vapers although there are better options available for the later.
