Joyetech eVic Primo Mini Kit Review Bottom Line

Joyetech continues their focus on the lower and middle vaping gear market with the release of their eVic Primo Mini Kit with ProCore Aries Tank. In effect, they’ve taken their old eVic Primo 2, made it smaller, added an OLED display and partnered it with their solid little sub-ohm ProCore Aries tank. The resulting kit is smaller, flexible and the new look with OLED settings display is now in line with 80W contemporaries.

In-depth Review of the Joyetech eVic Primo Mini Kit

The eVic Primo Mini Vape Mod with ProCore Aries TankThe ‘pocket mod’ category is popular, and Joyetech’s new kit has plenty of competitors. However, the ProCore Aries Tank with its 4ml juice capacity is a good tank, (they have a 2ml tank version for EU buyers) and if the new vape mod holds up, this kit could become a firm favorite and possibly one of the best vape mods on the market today. The starter kit contains the eVic Primo Mini-mod, ProCore Aries atomizer/tank, 1 ProC1 (0.4ohm) head, 1 ProC1-S (0.25ohm) head, a spare glass tube, USB cable, and spares. The total size for the eVic Primo Mini Mod with the ProCore Aeries tank kit is 25mm thick, 39mm wide and 127.5mm high.

The Evic Primo Mini Mod

The Primo Mini’s appearance is a two-tone range with the battery encased in lightweight carbon fiber finished in black. The black chassis is enhanced with silver, red, yellow and dark blue accents, as well as black on black. They match the colors of the ProCore Aeries tanks, and the result looks really elegant.

A New Look for the Mod

Joyetech reduced the mod size, and the new eVic Primo Mini mod is now only 25mm thick, 39mm wide and 75.5mm high. While they added a huge OLED screen with a pleasing curved shape and large fonts on the side, they still managed to retain a clean look by placing the two small elevated adjustment buttons below the display and adding a nice large fire button. The crisp OLED display provides information about voltage, mode, temperature, resistance, amps, and battery level. All in all, for what you get it’s a great vape deal!

One Powerful Battery

The eVic Primo Mini Mod with labels
The 18650 removable battery fires up to 80 watts, a good standard in the mini-mod market. They provide a USB cable for recharging, which takes place at a pretty fair 2A speed. 18650 batteries frequently provide around 8 hours’ vaping when used at 50W, but if you vape at 80W, you’ll need to recharge regularly or replace the spent one with a fresh battery. Check out our guide on Lithium-ion battery for vaping devices for more information on this. There is a latch at the bottom, just flip and slip in the new battery.

Mod Performance

The mod supports titanium, pure nickel and stainless steel (316/SS316) when in Temperature Control mode, with a temperature range within the standard 100-300C. The eVic Primo Mini mod also has a bypass mode for vaping while charging, a preheat function for consistent performance and stealth function for discreet vaping.

The 2 sizes of the ProCore Aries Tank

The Procore Aries Tank

We regard the ProCore Aries sub-ohm tank as one of Joyetech’s best sub-ohm tanks, and we are happy to see it paired with a decent mod. The juice tank sits at the top with the coil heads and airflow system at the base which means good flavor production. The 4ml e-juice tank (2ml for EU customers) has a flip-top fill system which you pop up to refill, and the Aries has the expected wide-bore Delrin Drip Tip which allows for heat dissipation at higher wattage settings.

Aries Airflow

One of the advantages of the ProCore Aries tank is the highly adjustable dual airflow system which allows the user to seek the perfect balance between clouds and flavor. The open airflow structure was specially designed to deliver dense vapor production, but by adding airflow controls, they also spared a kindly thought for MTL users and flavor freaks

510 Flexibility

The 510 contact pin on the eVic Primo Mini is flexible, and the improved design can accommodate 4 to 5.5mm pins. Although the ProCore Aries tank works exceptionally well with the eVic Primo Mini mod, you can also pair the mod securely with other tanks up to 25mm in size, like Smok’s TFV12 or the Wismec Reux tank.

Coiled Up:

The great news is that the ProCore Aries Tank is kind to both MTL and DL vapers, which means that it is a good buy for smokers who are trying to quit and vapers who like to experiment. The Joyetech ProC1 series coil heads have been quietly earning respect in vaper ranks, and this tank kit includes both a ProC1 0.4ohm atomizer head (40-80W) for DL fans and a ProC1-S 0.25ohm (25-35W) atomizer head for MTL fans. The correct coil and some careful airflow adjustment will serve either type of vaper well.

OVERALL

This kit fits in well in the popular 80W mod category where it competes with the SMOK OSUB 80W and the SMOK G80. It is a very comfortable vape mod to use, it looks good, and it provides a splendid vaping experience, with the quality from one of the best e cig brands. Joyetech did not deliver breakthrough technology with this kit, but they did make an excellent choice when they paired these two products for sale as a kit.
