In-depth Ehpro Cold Steel 100 Box Mod 120W Review

Finally, a small box mod that can almost be mistaken for a vape pen, using a 21700 battery to give better performance and a host of features to please even the most hardcore vapers out there. But how does the Ehpro Cold Steel Mod perform, is it one of the best e cigs in its class and is it worth the money? Well, let’s find out in our detailed review!

Design

The Ehpro Cold Steel 120W mod was designed in collaboration with EHPro and Ambitionz Vaper. They are offering the mod in three different colors, the Grey Champagne, or stainless steel as we know it, old gold, which is just gold and Black Obsidian, or black as we call it! On the side is the protruding fire button, a thin display, up and down button, a tiny led and a USB port.
Additionally, they include a cute little belt pouch, although I can’t really see a use for it as it only fits the mod, once you place a tank on top, it won’t fit the pouch!

Features

The Ehpro Cold Steel mod is a 120W variable wattage that uses either a 21700, 20700 or 18650 battery. You can fit a wide variety of tanks on the mod, anything less than 26mm diameter without any overhang, although you can go bigger if you wish.
The device uses the familiar 5 clicks on and off feature, you will see the display light up and the wording “Cold Steel” appears and disappears leaving the current settings of the mod. These include the standard things like the resistance of the coil, voltage, current wattage, battery indicator, and the vape mode.
Three clicks of the power button allow you to enter the menu area where you can change it from power (wattage mode) to voltage, temperature control, curve, or bypass mode. You can also change the vape mode from normal to soft or strong.
Pressing the up button together with the power button does allow the device to be locked so there’s no accidentally changing the wattage, you can still fire the device when its locked. Pressing the down button together with the power button switches the screen upside down. Pressing the up and down button together locks the mod completely, so the fire button along with all other buttons won’t work. Pressing all three buttons together puts the device into stealth mode, so the mod works as normal without the screen lighting up.
As the description describes this mod goes all the way up to 120W and does round-robin back to 5W.

Performance

So we’re testing the Ehpro Cold Steel Mod out with one of the best tanks on the market, the Wotofo Profile Unity RTA. We’re using this tank as it’s the one we have been using the most over recent weeks so a good reference in comparison with some of the other best vape mods.
We have to say this mod is solid. It feels good in your hand and the fire button is well placed. The display, albeit small, is nice and bright and easy to read. Performance-wise, we have no complaints, the responsiveness is awesome, fires up quick and meets the wattage levels you choose. Easy to use the menu, with all the features you need for both wattage and temperature control.

The Bad Points

There’s really not too much to say here, in fact, we are clutching at straws here. The first thing we have to mention is the pouch that comes with the mod only fits the mod, when you place a tank on top it doesn’t fit, making it not really fit for purpose, but that said, they didn’t have to include it! The only other point that we can pick up on is that this mod works best with either a 20700 or 21700 battery, the 18650 batteries work fine, but as it’s a single battery mod it’s not going to last too long, especially if you vape on the higher wattages.

The Good Ponts

We’ve already really covered it above, everything in this review is pretty much glowing, but to recap the mod is small yet powerful, great performance, easy to use, great design, simple menu features and meets both new and experienced vapers requirements.

Summing Up

The Ehpro Cold Steel Mod is a small mod that packs a punch, with wattage levels from 5W to 120W. The firing is very responsive and the menu features are complete and very easy to navigate through. The mod can fit any tank with a diameter of 26mm or less without any overhang, but you’re free to use larger. One thing we love the most is the size, you can easily fit this mod in your pocket, or use the carrying pouch they provide.
Overall, this mod is one of the best on the market, and for its size, it’s going to be hard to beat. Great job EHPro, looking forward to more mods and tanks coming from you!
