In-depth Smok RPM 80 Pro Vape Pod Review

The Smok RPM 80 Pro Vape Pod kit has become one of the most popular and best e-cigarette products on the market. The pod has been updated from the RPM40 model, which now gives you more power of up to 80W and uses an external 18650 battery. In this review, we will take a closer look at the features to see why it is so popular, and you will find if this pod kit will suit your requirements.

Smok RPM 80 Pro Vape Pod Various colors

Design

We have always liked the size of vape pods, but one thing often lagging was the power they could hold. Then came the Vaporesso Target PM80 and other such pods, giving the vaper more power. Now it’s the turn of Smok, and being one of the most popular and experienced brands, we expect nothing less than quality for their build, and that’s exactly what they delivered!

The RPM 80 Pro and PRM 80 comes in a number of different color designs, this includes six different resin fluid designs in a number of colors and a black carbon design. On the front of the vape pod is one large fire button, a nice large screen, and 2 menu buttons. Beneath the buttons is a USB port to allow firmware updates and to charge the battery, although the battery on the Pro model is best removed to recharge.

The pod itself is clear plastic, so you can easily see the quantity of e-liquid in the device.

The Smok RPM 80 Pro measures in at 118mm tall, 26mm wide, 31.5mm thick, and holds 5ml of e-liquid, the RPM 90 (not the Pro) measures the same but is slightly shorter at just 109mm.

Smok RPM 80 Vs RPM 80 Pro Pods

Features

The pod itself is a top fill that makes it pretty easy to refill and you don’t need to remove the pod from the device which is a nice touch.

The RPM 80 Pro uses the 3 button lock feature, so clicking the fire button 3 times enables and disables the lock, with a display showing “Power Locked”. You can also lock the wattage by holding the up and down buttons, this is handy because sometimes you can accidentally click them when you’re holding the device in your pocket. Now, holding the up button together with the fire button allows you to change the display colors, choosing from 6. The left button and the fire button clears the puff counter.

Features of the Smok RPM 80 Pro Pod

Performance

Both the Smok RPM 80 and the Smok RPM 80 Pro come with direct lung inhale coils, a 0.4-ohm pre-installed coil, and a 0.17 nexMesh coil, but I believe the mouth to lung coils are now available. So we’re testing direct lung inhales, which is good for us because that’s what we prefer here!

We’re first going for the pre-installed 0.4-ohm coil, which is known as the RPM 0.4ohm coil! We’re setting the wattage to 25 watts, which is what Smok recommends for that coil. We have to say that this coil produces such a great vape, super impressed and the flavor is just great. This is taking the lead as far as flavorful and impressive vape pod, it really is that good!

Switching the coil over to the 0.17 RGC Conical Mesh Coil and increasing the wattage to 50W, we get a much warmer vape, although we feel like the flavor has now damped a little. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of vapers prefer a warmer vape, but for us, the new RPM coils seem to be better for flavor quality.

Difference Between The RPM80 and the RPM 80 Pro

To put it simply, there simply is no difference between the two models apart from the PRO uses a removable 18650 battery when the other has a built-in 3000mAh battery. This also means the Pro is slightly longer in order to fit the battery in, but its just 9mm longer!

Conclusion

The new IQ-80 chipset that comes in the Smok RPM 80 Pro is certainly impressive, along with all the features and responsiveness, Smok really knows what they are doing. It’s really impressive that such a small device can create some beautiful and flavourful clouds. If you are looking for a pod, but want to experience the best flavor and vape, then the Smok RPM 80 Pro Pod Kit should really be at the top of your list. It’s an awesome kit, and you get a lot for your money.

Whether you should go for a Smok RPM 80 or the Smok RPM 80 Pro is really down to size and convenience. A lot of vapers like having the removable 18650 battery option, but for that, you gain 9mm in length. Apart from that, there is no difference between the two kits.
