In-Depth Council of Vapor Xion Starter Kit Review

Council of Vapor do produce some of the best tanks in the business, but their design and functionality of box mods seem to be slightly lacking to date. But the release of the Xion kit is their attempt to change all that. Introducing their first touch screen, dual 18650 240W mod with an awesome carbon fiber design. We take a look to see how this mod competes with the latest and best vape mods on the market.

Design

Council of Vapor has listened to the market and know what we vapers like, I mean who doesn’t like the carbon fiber look, with a nice big color screen! They have used the general principles they used on their Mini Volt mod, and just tweaked it to really suit this bigger and more powerful mod.

The design just works, it looks very similar to the SMOK Alien kit, but with a cooler carbon fiber body and sharper lines.  Being about the same size too, the TFT touchscreen just makes it look beautiful, in fact, when comparing side by side the Alien mod looks like a mod from the 90’s! This is how fast this industry is moving!

Packaging

Council of Vapor include everything you need  to start vaping in their starter kit, including the following:

• The XION 240W Box Mod
• XILO Sub-Ohm Tank
• 2 x 0.4 ohm Coils (One preinstalled)
• Spare Glass Tube and Seals
• USB Cable and Instructions

Xilo Sub Ohm Tank

The Xilo tank is included in the Xion Starter kit and with a matching design, this kit looks great! The coils seem to have quite a wide bore diameter and with airflow control on both sides, the resistance when vaping can be set to really low.

You can only set the airflow at the bottom of the tank, but when fully open, the resistance as we said, is low. Not as low as it could have been, just a slight resistance.

The tank also features a top-fill design, meaning you slide the top cap in the direction the arrow shows and you see 2 holes, 1 large and 1 small. Fill the juice into the larger hole and allow the escaping air to flow through the smaller hole, great thinking Council of Vapor! Works brilliantly although our tank seems a little stiff to slide, this may be due to it being new and we are going to be interested how this changes over time, but for now, it’s great! No accidental spills with the tank opening in our pocket, and really easy to use!

The Mod

First of all the 1.45 inch TFT color screen is beautiful! It gives you all the info you need, 2 battery indicators, current wattage setting, the resistance of the coil, amps, and voltage your vaping at, a timer and a puff counter, all well laid out and really easy to read.

On the side of the tank are two buttons, either can be used as a fire button, but use the longer button and then the small button can be used for your power boost which we will talk about in a bit. You can lock the mod with the normal 3 button click, and enter the menu by clicking 5 times.

You can change most things on the menu like; wattage from 5 watts to 240 using the touchscreen up and down buttons, mode from wattage to temp control, the boost percentage, the brightness of the screen (although there are only 2 settings on this), reset the puff counter and you can turn the device off completely.

The mod is really easy to use and suited for all types of vapers, so if you’re new to vaping and looking for an e-cig to quit smoking or a veteran vaper looking for an upgrade, this mod will definitely please!

Power Boost

We love this and really hope other mod manufacturers adopt this feature! So what is it? You have probably heard of custom modes, where you can adjust the wattage across the time you press the fire button. But this is quite a procedure to set up and once set, you’re stuck with it. Well, CoV have introduced something a lot better; the Power boost!

If you set the power boost to 50% in the settings, and set your wattage to 40 watts when vaping you can actually add the 50% extra power when you like. So clicking the larger button delivers 40W then simultaneously holding the smaller button delivers 60W, letting the smaller button go returns it to firing 40W, this is awesome and as the buttons are so well placed I’m using it all the time!

I start with a 3-second normal fire and top it with 2-3 seconds of the boost. This way you get a really huge cloud and fulfilled vape, without burning out the coil! This feature alone makes it one of the best e-cigarette products we have tried to date!

 

To Conclude

We loved the design of Council of Vapor Xion mod starter kit and along with the easy to use power boost feature has become our day to day vape mod. The dual 18650 battery mod delivers enough battery life and performance to be an all-day mod along with the pleasing and matching design of the Xilo tank.

Overall really happy with this mod, and any serious or new vaper are going to be really pleased, without a doubt, especially with the Power Boost mode, that we might have mentioned once or twice! Awesome!
