Sigelei Kaos Spectrum 230W Review Bottom Line

The Sigelei KAOS Spectrum 230W TC Box Mod has been called ‘evolutionary, ’ and ‘revolutionary’ due to its 6-color LED ring of highlighting colors. While the unusual use of LED light is certainly eye-catching, that is not the reason why we recommend this great mod. It is built tough, beautifully engineered, powerful, reliable and very customizable for high-power vaping configurations and we think it’s a must-have device for intermediate to advanced vapers.

The Sigelei Kaos Spectrum Box Mod Full Review

Sigelei Kaos Spectrum 230W TC Box ModThe  Sigelei Kaos Spectrum 230W TC Box Mod is the result of a collaboration between popular KAOS E-Cigs and the trusted Sigelei manufacturing specialists. They have produced a high powered device with great looks and excellent temperature control. The real question is though, is this one of the best box mods out there right now? Let’s see.

Stand-apart Looks

The LED-strip encircling the front bezel lets you personalize the look completely every time you use it.  There are 6 vibrant colors to choose from each time you use it – pick from blue tones, green, purple, yellow or red. Additionally, you can set it to glow when you fire up (‘breathing’ your chosen color), set it to emit an even, constant bright light, or you can turn it off and go with zero luminescence – an opaque white ring. This function is handy when you want to go undercover for a while, and will also go easier on the batteries.

TFT Color OLED Screen

The 0.96 inch (2.4cm) TFT OLED screen has a sharp, bright, full-color horizontal layout with two adjustment buttons set at the top. The 3-column horizontal layout makes it easy to track operating mode, atomiser resistance and temperature in TC modes, battery life, output voltage/wattage with the signature KAOS logo situated just below. Ok, so the mod uses a color screen but it still doesn’t compete with their new Sigelei MT Mod which is more for those who want to stand out in the crowd. However the KAOS screen is still pretty cool!

Businesslike Buttons

The large firing button sits at the side and top, flush with the mod, which prevents accidental firing while stored.  As mentioned, the Kaos Spectrum 230W has two small menu/adjustment buttons inside the LED ring, just above the display. All buttons are black, the same as the chassis, and not back-lit, but still easy to find and operate.

Temperature Titan

Sigelei’s latest microprocessor is very fast and very stable, and it allows for coils to be fired with absolute precision. The advanced complex chipset allows the Kaos Spectrum 230W to fire from 10W up to 230 watts on its two 18650 batteries using a comprehensive temperature management suite used for Nickel (Ni200), Stainless Steel (SS 304/316/317) or Titanium (Ti) coils with adjustable TCR  and TFR.  It accommodates up to 0.1 ohms of resistance at maximum 35 amps of output power for max-power drawing and cloud production. They have taken their experience from the Sigelei 213 Plus and captured the best parts beautifully in this mod.

Battery Bod

The Kaos Spectrum 230W mod is built around a set of two 18650 batteries which are easily accessed for replacement via a small, hinged battery door located at the bottom of the unit. You can also charge the batteries onboard using the micro-USB cord with a computer or wall outlet with a 2.5A balanced charging current for impressively fast recharging. The two 18650 batteries let it reach 230 watts of variable wattage power for extraordinary vapor production. If you choose this mod for its temperature control and not the wattage, and if you tend to vape in the lower wattage range or stay under 50 watts, your batteries could last for days.

Pro Build

The Zinc Alloy frame is lightweight but durable, and the soft-touch leatherette back finish ensures a good grip. The edges are rounded with a good palm fit, and well-placed but low-profile buttons. The Micro-USB port on the side allows firmware upgrades and super-fast charging. The dimensions are a sleek 8.8cm tall by 4.5cm wide and 3cm thick.
